Ark wildlife

about.

Wild animals in rehabilitation centers require temporary, intensive care that supports their well-being while reducing the workload for caregivers.

Ark is a modular care system that responds on three levels: the animal, the caregiver, and the spatial organization. Its design drivers form the foundation for a flexible, scalable, and animal-friendly solution.

The prototype

Based on the developed design, a functional prototype was built to evaluate the system in practice. The prototype was sponsored and tested in collaboration with caregivers from Natuurhulpcentrum in Oudsbergen, Beglium. With a focus on working height, animal handling, cleaning, and safety. Feedback from these tests was used to further refine the design and align it with the real-world needs of a wildlife rehabilitation environment.

The use cases.

The enclosure concept is modular in structure and adapts in shape, size, and configuration. From a tiny songbird to small mammals or a swan: the system scales with the needs of the wildlife center and seasonal fluctuations in capacity.

Digital monitoring.

The ARK monitoring system centralizes feeding, medication, and observations per animal via a simple NFC scan. An intuitive dashboard displays all animals in care, organized by species, location, and care phase.

Smart filtering and task assignment support caregivers and help prevent errors. External finders can follow the recovery process through a limited public view.

result.
